Marion Red Ball

Marion Leon "Red" Ball, 70 died Thursday, November 19, 2009. Red grew up on Wilmington Island and lived on Tybee Island for the past 25 years. He was retired from Consolidated Mechanical and was a member of Union Hall Local 188. He was a member of The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and was a 1957 graduate of Savannah High School. Red volunteered on Tybee with the Boyscouts, St. Judes, St. Michaels Church, and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ellis Elmo Ball, his mother, Alpha Poore Ball, and his brother, Dwain Elmo Ball.
He is survived by his son, Jason Payne Ball and his wife, Jennifer Ferraro Ball, his daughter, Sherri Cowan Fairbairn and her husband, Robert Fairbairn, and three grandchildren, Julia Ball, Maxwell Fairbairn, and Jacob Fairbairn.
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the Islands Chapel of Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors.
Graveside Service: 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2009 in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Msgr. P. James Costigan officiating.
Remembrances may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church on Tybee Island or the Veteran's Memorial on Tybee Island.
